Typical of American Airlines, my first flight was so delayed that I ended up missing my connecting flight and had to spend the night in Miami. I mentally prepared for this eventuality considering I have so many flight to catch this month, but the very first flight was a costly fail. 😅

The woman in line in front of me noticed my excitement and said, “oh yes he is a very important person.” To which I replied, “that is so awesome that you know him too!” I think we both thought we were on the same page, because she then proceeded to walk up to him and yell at him for thinking he’s better than everyone else by skipping the line! I guess she was being sarcastic and I missed the joke. 😂
In true Max fashion, he gave her the snarkiest response he couldn’t muster and laid out all of the “facts” for why he was skipping the line. It was a great moment. I decided to save him from Karen, and thanked him for his brave work! He seemed happy to see a friendly face and immediately asked my name, then invited me to the hotel bar to have some drinks and a conversation.
We ended up staying until two hours after closing! He let me pick his brain about current affairs, he filled me in on a lot of juicy gossip about his colleagues, and answered questions that I have been curious to ask him for so long! I even connected him to my Twitter account and told him all about the activist sex work that I do over there.
It was a very memorable evening. One that I can only view as something that happens when you surrender to whatever shall be. I could’ve gotten really upset about missing my flight, having to pay for hotels and waste precious time, but I got something really cool out of the whole experience.
