I showed my littles how to sprout carrot tops...and now we have carrot top pesto! I'm out of Parmesan at the moment so I used some Nutritional yeast flakes (very different from baking yeast lol!), sesame seeds, garlic powder, walnuts, fresh lemon juice, dried basil and parsley, fresh spinach, olive and coconut oil, and Himalayan pink salt. I think it's delish over whole wheat noodles π
I was today years old when I discovered that calligraphy and handwriting cannot be done the same! π³π¬ I just assumed because I have nice handwriting that calligraphy was just a variation...nope, it has it's own set of strokes. So all these years I've been trying to write calligraphy the way I write handwritten cursive and wondering why it was such a struggle! It's not the tool ... it's the operator...go figure!
Morning workout... rebounding! Look at just some of the benefits!! 5 minutes 3 times a day... anyone can do that! Rebounding combines acceleration, deceleration and gravity, like a 3-horse team working together to exercise every cell in the body... triple the benefit and low impact.
Just being a tad lazy lately...I put the workout program on the back burner for a bit and worked on finishing my food manager's class for work... just gotta take the final exam and I'm done!
Toured a commercial greenhouse business last week and an equipment auction this morning. This attachment caught my attention. It has cutting discs under the rubber flaps and rollers in the back. I assumed it was something used for grain harvesting...turns out I was right! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swather
Ugh!! Spider mites on my poor hibiscus πΊ plants!! π Can't really see them in the picture, however they're there...hundreds of them. Supposedly a warm πΏ can be an effective remedy...π€·
All ready for work! I had the kitchen to myself tonight with some occasional help from the bartender serving pizza, 14 of them all in a two hour span...may not seem like a lot but we make them from scratch starting with the dough, so I mixed up 4 batches of dough during the course of the evening too. One order had 7...the oven can fit 6 if needed but the edges burn sometimes so I came up with a strategy: I prepped the cottage bacon, pepperoni and plain 3 cheese pizza first as they all have red sauce, then the Rueben and margarita pizzas which have special sauces. Cottage bacon and Rueben take a bit longer to bake so they went first then the rest went in as soon as there was room without crowding. All came out close together just as I hoped!
Ready for work...then a workout mug shot....ewww...got some work to do on that mom bod and I can tell I still need some more trips to the chiropractor!!! π¬π³ Tried on old jeans today...I could get a couple pair on and buttoned, definitely not comfortable yet.
To shower πΏ or not? Last little one finally asleep, workout program not completed and it's after 11pm...but even though I have the bed to myself like most nights, the thought of smooth legs vs prickly ones won out over exhaustion.... definitely worth it!
Orange cranberry breakfast cake using fresh ground wheat.... ππDoesn't get much better than that! Did you know that up to 90% of the nutrition in flour is lost in the first 3 days after grinding due to oxidation!? Not to mention all the nutrition and wonderful fiber removed from white flour and then the bleaching process! π¬
Good morning! I'm starting a lifestyle program today that's 2.5 months long and requires a daily selfie...I'm sure y'all will enjoy that aspect of the program... more consistent check-ins and posts! ππ
A flock of wild turkeys crossed the road on my way to work today. They disappeared so quick in the brush, I barely managed to capture a picture of these last three. Wondering what I do at work? Cooking and dishes π I work at a little brewery. Everything is made from scratch... Pizza dough for our flatbread pizzas: Margarita, Rueben, Bacon Cheeseburger, Cottage Bacon, Cajun are all pretty popular. Bacon mac n cheese, Corned beef and cabbage, Pork Nachos, meat and cheese plates, scottish eggs, quiche...just some of the random dishes available. Desserts are also a favorite...New York style cheesecake, Key Lime pie, Chocolate Stout cake, Bourbon Bread pudding, and Mile High Chocolate pie. Yesterday we did 21 pizzas so I made 5 batches of dough and sliced peppers in addition to rolling out dough and assembling the pizzas, washing dishes, etc. Tonight I whipped heavy cream for our desserts, peeled and chopped 5 lbs of carrots and this bag of celery, sliced several onions, and we only had 9 pizzas but quite a few dessert orders. I thought I'd share the dough recipe below so y'all can enjoy your own homemade pizza:
500 grams flour 10 grams each yeast and salt 320 grams water Mix all well and divide into 4 equal portions. Wrap in plastic until ready to use, can store in fridge up to 3-4 days. Roll out into 12-14 inch circle, layer favorite sauce and toppings and bake as desired at 425 degrees. π
It's green... yellow green, but still a shade of green...I promise that stripe on my skirt is green ππ€·βοΈ hope everyone had a very happy St. Patty's day...I celebrated with an ordinary day of household chores, clean sheets on the bed, watered plants, all that fun stuff...I actually have quite a bit of Irish ancestry but we never really celebrated the day and I don't drink, unless you count kombucha π Someday I'd love to explore the Irish countryside and try some real Irish home cooking.
Oh boy! These peppers are hot! Uh... nope, it would be SPICY red pepper humus π₯π No wonder Beau left it in the fridge! πππ His loss...I finished off the whole container minus a bit of the pepper sauce.
Got a massage tonight to work on my lower back, glad to know someone close by who's a licensed therapist! Don't put off taking care of yourself, preventing problems in the future, especially when small problems start. It takes way more time and expense, as I'm learning the hard way. A good Chiropractor, massage therapy, yoga and core exercises should get me back on track soon. π
Feeling so much better, I made it to work Saturday night and then outside Sunday to tour the farm and revel at the incredible spring migration of thousands of geese and waterfowl. Unfortunately, only a tiny fraction are visible in these clips from my phone camera. The sheep are looking good and I can't stop adoring these squishy cute puppies!!
While I was under the weather, things were still happening...I mean... brewing! Kombucha!! What shall we flavor it with? I've got blueberries and ginger for a tasty start! And aren't those bottles gorgeous!?!!! π
