Final touches on the ski! Here I am using a marine coating to seal my ski! This will prevent water from damaging the wood and causing it to weaken! It’s important to protect wood that is exposed to the elements and a waterproof sealant is the perfect way to do that!

This took me most of the day because I didn't have the correct grit sandpaper. The grit is a rating of the size of abrasive materials on the sandpaper. The higher grit number is equivalent to a finer abrasive, which creates smoother surface finishes. Lower grit numbers represent coarser abrasives that scrape off materials much quicker..

This week I'll be refinishing my swivel ski! I have been water-skiing most of my life and have done it professionally for over 10 years in 3 different countries! Although I don't do it as much as I used to, it's still a major part of my life so this project is near and dear to my heart. I'll be removing the protective sealant, sanding it down, and reapplying a marine protective coating! Might even take it for a ski sometime soon😉

The final step in the drywall repair project is to tape and conceal the patch with a drywall joint compound to make it look like it was never there! Drywall tape is designed to be very durable, resistant to tearing and water damage, and has a slightly rough surface to provide maximum adhesion to drywall compound. Check out the final steps before I sand and paint. Now we can just act like I didn't do that and move on to next weeks adventures!

You can always shave down any excess for a tight fit. The less of a gap you have between old drywall and new the better. This will ensure the seams are less noticeable when you tape and joint compound the new patch of wall.

In order to correctly patch a damaged area you first need to clear and remove all the damaged pieces. I do this by marking the area I am going to remove with a pencil or marker then use a razor blade knife to cut it out. Pro Tip: If the new dry wall piece that you are going to put in is large, make sure to put a piece of support wood behind the wall so you have something to secure your new patch too. I used scrap from a previous project and secured it with drywall screws.

Well looks like it's another home repair week. While I was rearranging my shop I put a big hole in my garage wall. Follow along this week as I cut out the damaged area, replace it with a fresh piece of drywall, tape, and use an all purpose joint compound to cover the repaired area! Never a dull moment around here!

I am building the frame for the mirror today! After measuring and cutting the wood its time to prep the peices to join together! I prefer to use pocket holes as a way to secure the wood pieces at the corners. They are 35% stronger than other traditional methods, the holes are easy to hide for a flawless finish, and it's just easy to do with the "Kreg" pocket hole jig.

This is a pretty easy process since it was only held in place by a few screws into a microfiber backing! Make sure to protect the glass from scratches by placing a soft towel or blanket underneath before you place it on a table or workbench! Oh....and wear gloves...I cut myself 🤣

Remember to shake the can (alot), read the instructions to determine the distance you need to hold it away from the wall to get the desired effect, and spray away! Pro Tip: Spray around the repaired sections so you have a seamless transition from old texture to new😘

2022-03-30 22:30:09 +0000 UTC View PostHow do you fix a hole in the drywall?? Spackle! Spackle covers and seals holes or damage on drywall to provide fast repairs that will not crack or flake off! Make sure the surface of the wall is clean, dry and free of any excess materials. I like to use the dry time indicator (pink😊) so I don't have to guess when it's ready to be sanded and painted! The color turns from pink to white when it's dry! (Usually within 1-3 hours)

Poppin the top!! Stain is messy, it's important to wear latex gloves when handling stain, its EXTREMELY hard to get off your hands if you get it on you. @erinbulids

Last step of the coffee top project! The polyurethane. This step is the most important when working with wood that you want to last. A coat of poly will protect the wood from water and stains, giving it a perfect finish! Can't wait to show you all!
